The Harvesters Men’s Group meets regularly (usually every two months) on a Saturday morning in the Parish Centre. Our format is to begin at 8.30am with tea/coffee and croissants followed by a time of prayer and a reflection on scripture. After this we listen to a teaching input and respond to this with a group reflection and sharing of our faith.
Our session is relaxed and informal yet inspiring and faith-building. It gives an opportunity to reflect on our faith and to be inspired and encouraged as we respond to God in a relaxed atmosphere. This small group helps us to analyse what is really happening in our lives to allow us to keep in touch with what is real and to encourage each other.
Many men in churches today choose to regularly attend a local group. Their small group is the ‘safe place’ where they can voluntarily be really honest with themselves and other men. It is also a response to what the Catechism of the Catholic Church recognises, that belonging to a small group provides a “school of prayer”.
Harvesters is a Catholic men’s network: “We were set up by men for men to help us to grow in our Christian faith and be of support to one another.” (See www.harvesters.org.uk).
