Covenant Prayer Community at St Marys
The Covenant Prayer Community is group of people, including members from other parishes, who meet to pray regularly in a home group; also leading prayer and worship through gatherings in church and in the parish centre. Some are active in leadership in other parishes and a number of the members are currently leading parish groups, courses and liturgical celebrations. Some of the Community are also actively involved in conferences such as the Harvester’s Men’s weekend and the North-West Celebrate Conference.
The home group prayer meeting is at the heart of the community and features a time of lively charismatic prayer and worship followed by quiet reflection using scripture, prayer and sharing to build faith, respond to God’s prompting and seek guidance for God’s mission.
Community Days are larger gatherings which attract people from all over Manchester and surrounding areas. These days have different themes and are open to anyone. The days are a source of encouragement and a pointer towards mission. They are always praise-filled and have lively music led by a small and enthusiastic team. Included during the afternoon: songs; prayer; praise and worship; quiet reflection; liturgy; DVD input; video clips; tea and coffee.
